Into The Holidays - Erylian Extra November 2020 Edition

November 2020 Header.jpg

This past month, we actually managed to get 2 episodes out! You can enjoy our Nightwatch which goes over the events of Arc 2 of the Erylian Epic, as well as jump right back in with our first episode for Arc 3 of the Erylian Epic! We also have some news regarding Covid 19 in our area and its returning effect on our show. We’ve also got some news on some cool happenings in the Discord server, as well as an update to Damian the DM’s stream schedule, including a poll to help shape the future of the stream!

Nightwatch - Hunting Grimfang - Erylian Epic Arc 2

I slipped this in in last months newsletter, but since the episode did actually come out in the month, it gets to be featured a second time! This month we released our Nightwatch where we talked about the entire Arc 2 of the Erylian Epic as well as went over some feedback about the show.

You can find the episode here, along with a breakdown of the topics we talked about through our sit down discussion, if there is something specific you wanted to hear about. If there is something you would have liked us to talk about, feel free to send us an email or join us on our Discord, and remember that we will take listener questions and discuss them on our next Nightwatch at the end of each story arc.

Reawakening - Erylia Epic - Arc 3 - Episode 1

Though typically, we would be alternating our Erylian Epic with another arc of the Mieveht Story, this year has been unique, and we are adjusting our overall plans to account for that. Unfortunately, with how much Covid has interrupted our recording schedule, we have decided to continue our story with another arc of the Erylian Epic. I, as Dungeon Master, am very excited with where the story is getting to and wanted to push it forward, especially since we have no idea what recording will be like in the new year. We do hope to return to the Mieveht Story this year, once we can get back on a regular schedule.

This episode is a great jumping on point for new listeners as we spent some time with each character to reintroduce them and some of their larger story moments.

As the party makes their way along the Norgeld Road back to Port Norsal, a strange person approaches them from the forest. Darodem greats them as a protector along these roads who has started to take watch over the area again now that the gnolls are taken care of. While they offer to keep the party safe as they camp for the night, they can do nothing for what is inside these adventurers’ minds.

Returning to Remasters - Covid Update

This came at a really unfortunate time for us, but our state has gone back into a deeper lock down. Specifically, the ability for small groups to get together as friends has been officially restricted by our state governor. We had actually planned, the week before, to be getting together to record content for the rest of the year, and it was scheduled for the weekend after the restrictions went into effect. While on the one hand, I am happy to be putting more work into our remasters, I was also really looking forward to progressing the new arc of the Erylian Epic. Personally, it sucks to have felt like we had a really strong start up to this arc only to not be able to record and release any more videos for the time being.

On a lighter note, if you did not already know about this, I have been making use of these forced breaks in recording to remaster the earliest episodes of the show. As of writing this, I have already remastered and re-released the first 7 episodes of Arc 1 of the Mieveht Story and am working on the 8th episode. You can find the remastered episodes here, but they are also posted in our Discord every time a new episode is released as well.

Growing Discord

Speaking of the goings on in our Discord. We have been slowly growing a community over there and I have been super happy to have people join us in there to talk not only about the show, but also to talk to us about and join us in playing video games. Pretty much every week, a few of us get together with members of the community for a Weekly Multiplayer Game Stream. We play a game called Depth quite a bit, but have also been known to play Among Us, Dead by Daylight, Fall Guys and other games if we share them with members of the server. If you’ve been following our newsletter or our show for this long, we would love to see you hop into the server.

Damian the DM's Thursday Stream Series (Update)

Over the last year or so, I have been working on myself as a streamer, as well as the content creation work I do as the editor and dungeon master for the show. Recently, I had made a change to my weekly stream schedule, which was to cut one of my map making streams in favor of playing a single player game every Thursday night. I started this off playing the 2014 release of Thief, and have had a lot of fun, and some scares, playing through it. While this was originally set up as a night for me to play single player games, I have actually made a slight change to this. A couple weekends ago, I did a co-stream with AmericanBranFlakes, and we had an absolute blast playing Elder Scrolls Online. I have been a fan of this game for a long time, and this stream got me hyped for it again, so I have decided to alternate between Thief and Elder Scrolls Online. What’s awesome is that if the schedule allows, Caitlin has said that she is interested in playing with me. If you play Elder Scrolls Online and are interested in joining me on these nights, let me know!

Though this schedule change will stretch out the Thief content for a little while longer, I am closing in on the end of the story. I have a few games that I would personally like to play next, but as I have multiple options, I am coming to you to see what you would like to see me play next!

Into the Holiday Season

Well, if the rest of this post hasn’t made it clear, most of my last message about going into the holiday season has changed in the last month. The main thing I wanted to add about the holiday season here is that I can now comment on how my previous holiday break from work went. My week home leading up to Thanksgiving did not go as I had originally expected. The holiday season is crazy busy for Caitlin, working retail in a very popular gift shop, as well as running her own small business, which has taken off in the lead up to the holidays. With her scheduled to work more than normal, and me being home, I spent a lot of my time off work hanging out with our son. Though he shares his parents’ love of video games, he loved having his dad home all day every day. This meant that I did not, in fact, edit as much as intended. I actually edited very little and decided to take the vacation for what it was and use it to recharge. I have another 2 weeks off at the end of this month, and while some of that time will be spent on the podcast, I will also be enjoying the time with my family and the chance to stream when I usually wouldn’t be able to.
