New Mixer - Patreon Update - Mieveht Story Remastered - Twitch Streams

This month, we were able to finally do an upgrade on our mixer that I have been wanting to make for a while, we made some minor changes to the Patreon, we have some news on the Mieveht Story Remaster project, and I want to bring some visibility to some of the Twitch streams members of the show are doing.

New Mixer

Ever since we got serious about doing the show, we have been recording our tracks with a Zoom H6, and it has done it job for us just fine. The H6 is highly recommended for podcasters, but it also isn’t really meant for us, it is meant for mobile handheld usage. Ever since Zoom announced the L-12, I have had my eye on it for a major upgrade. It has a lot of the same things we have liked about the H6, but in a full mixer format. It also gives us a few nice upgrades with having 2 more inputs, on board effects and processing, and the ability to record to an SD card while also sending audio over USB to a computer, which should make using it work way better for live streaming sessions.

When I ordered the mixer, it was clear that I was not going to have a good spot to leave it permanently set up, and with being a full sized mixer, tearing it down every time we record was going to be a hassle. I was already using some monitor risers, but I could not find another one that was going to fit the L-12 and fit in the space I had available on my desk. I set out to begin designing a custom riser for my desk to hold the mixer, my monitors, and more. I have done this and I love how things turned out. Here’s some images of the build:

Patreon Update

You might be thinking to yourself as you read this, Adventures in Erylia has never done a newsletter before. At least, we never did anything that was called a newsletter. We did have Behind the Screen, which kind of served the purpose of a news letter, but was not on any sort of schedule. For a while, we have had making the Behind the Screen a regular thing as our $50/mo milestone, but I made a change to that this month. Behind the Screen is going through a bit of a rebrand as we near that milestone. Instead of using Behind the Screen as a newsletter, I will start doing these blog posts in their place. If the Behind the Screen milestone is reached on Patreon, it will be done as a live stream either on Discord or Twitch and it will be more of a Q&A/World Building thing. I will be available to take questions about the world and campaign or I will be working on filling in details for a part of the world. If this is reached, it will be fairly driven by Patrons and those who are in the live streams. By the way, at the time of posting this, we are only $2 a month away from reaching this goal.

Mieveht Story Remastered

This month, and the summer in general, hasn’t been the best for the Mieveht Story Remaster project. I only managed to get one episode released this month, though I am proud of the remastered map that was released alongside it! Just for a bit of transparency here, a few factors have added to the slowing down of content production. In general, with the weather being so much nicer, I have been spending more time outside with my family. Especially since in this pandemic, we can’t really go out and do anything so it means putting more effort into keeping everyone at home and entertained. Our local area is also going through a heatwave. We have been consistently hitting the mid 80s, sometimes even pushing up into the 90s, so I am wanting to spend even less time in front of the computer. Our area is not very used to these temperatures so consistently and the one AC unit we do have is struggling to keep it below 75 inside right now. I am about half way through the next release, which should also be a bit longer than the last couple.

Also, some exciting news for you guys, the group has been tossing around the idea of our return to recording new episodes. Currently we are looking at the end of August for potential days that work out. At that point, in an ideal world, we will release 1 new episode and 1 remaster per month.

Twitch Streams!

I want to highlight some stuff that we have going on over on Twitch. Every week, myself, Caitlin, and Chantalle get together online to live stream some games and hang out. We stream on Wednesday nights around 8-8:30pm Pacific time. You can find our channels and even watch and comment on all 3 streams at once over on our Live Page. I am also doing 2 additional streams a week! On Tuesday night I am streaming map making in Affinity Photo, currently working on a city map for Port Norsal and on Thursday night I am streaming map making in DungeonFog, currently working on a map for the Guild Hall in Riven. If you want to hang out with us during any of these times, make sure you follow our channels so you can get notifications when we are live.
